Natural Rubber Sheets
Natural rubber is the only naturally occurring rubber that is used for commercial purposes. The rubber plant is native to South America of the Amazon Valley region; however, many plantations have been grown in India, Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Malaysia. This is the reason that natural rubber is also known as Indian Rubber. The Natural rubber (NR) is a polymer of organic compound isoprene with minor impurities of other organic compounds along with water.
The NR is derived in the form of latex form a selected group of trees. The latex is sticky and milky colloid when extracted from bark of the trees and collected in a vessel. This entire process is called “Tapping” and the extracts are later refined for the production of rubber.
PROPERTIES :
The natural rubber has several unique properties:
• It is used for manufacture of many other products and rubber types, by blending them with other ingredients in appropriate proportions.
• The NR sheets have high abrasion resistance, elongation and Tensile strength.
• It has an extremely broad hardness range and has the highest resilience among all he rubbers.
• The NR is strong and can endure extreme temperatures ranging from -50C to +90C.
• It is known to have extreme tear strength and fatigue resistance with high compression enabling it to work under low temperatures for dynamic applications.
• The natural sheets are susceptible to vulcanization and ozone attack which causes cracking.
• They are stretchy, flexible and water proof by nature.
USES
• Door and window profiles
• Hoses
• Belts
• Gaskets
• Matting
• Flooring
• Dampeners
In the field of medical, household and industrial world it has the following usage:
• Gloves
• Toy balloons
• Adhesives
• Rubber bands
• Pencil erasers
